Obituary

Michael J. Kealey, 82 of Prospect Park, died on December 5, 2012 at Taylor Hospice Residence.

Born in Philadelphia, he lived in the city until moving to his late residence in 1960.

Mr. Kealey was a Disaster Recovery Planner for Conrail for 37 years, retiring in 1989. He was a graduate of Roman Catholic High School for Boys, Class of 1949 and attended St. Joseph College. Michael was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War and was a member of the Church of St. Madeline, where he served as a counter, was active with CCD, volunteered with the Church Fair, and also bowled with the church league. He also served as Judge of Elections, First Precinct in Prospect Park. Mr. Kealey was one of the founding members of the Prospect Park Boys Club, where he served as secretary. He enjoyed collecting coins, gardening, golfing, western movies, puzzles and was an avid reader, however, most important to him was his devotion to his family.

He was son of the late Michael and Catherine Sweeney Kealey, brother of the late Martha Kealey, Frank Keeley, Anna Marie Mellon, Catherine Whalen and Betty Dalton, and grandfather of the late Matthew J. Shinn, who died in 2008.

Survivors: his wife of 53 years, Kathryn M. "Kitty" Moffitt Kealey; his children Thomas M. Kealey (Linda), Lorie K. Shinn (John) and Kitty M. McLaughlin (Bob); also eight grandchildren.

Funeral Mass 11:00Am Friday, December 7. 2012 at the Church of St. Madeline, Penn St. and Morton Ave., Ridley Park.

Visitation: 9 to 9:45AM at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park. Burial: SS Peter and Paul Cemetery.
