Michael “Mickey” J. Clavin, 81, of West Chester, PA, passed away on August 11, 2026. Born in Darby, he was the son of the late John F. and Catherine Burns Clavin. He had lived in Swarthmore for many years before moving to West Chester three years ago.

Mickey was a graduate of Monsignor Bonner High School, Class of 1963, and earned an Associate’s Degree from Delaware County Community College. He was a decorated Vietnam Veteran, having proudly served in the United States Army with the 9th Infantry Division. Mickey was a member of St. Maximilian Kolbe R.C. Church in West Chester and the Herbert W. Best VFW Post 928 in Folsom.

Mickey enjoyed a 40-year career with General Electric Company, serving as a Production Control Supervisor during his career. Following his retirement from GE, Mickey continued working for another 10 years as an Estimator at Transwall.

He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, faithfully cheering on the Eagles, Phillies, Sixers, and Flyers. Mickey also enjoyed playing golf and was blessed to attend the Masters Tournament in Augusta, GA, with his son, Michael. Additionally, Mickey cherished spending summer vacations in Ocean City, MD, surrounded by his family and grandchildren. Above all, he treasured time spent with family. Mickey loved making people laugh and was always ready with a good joke. He had a special gift for connecting with others through his humor and laughter, bringing joy to everyone around him.

Mickey was the loving husband of 58 years to his high school sweetheart, Jane F. Borg Clavin. He was the devoted father of Michele M. Scannapieco (Raymond), Jennifer L. Bonaventura, and the late Michael J. Clavin, Jr.; proud grandfather of Max Scannapieco, Kaitlyn Scannapieco, Michael Bonaventura, Jr., and Bradley Bonaventura; and brother of the late John F. Clavin, Jr., Dolores Durang, Catherine “Sissie” Coakley, and Nancy Greene. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at St. Maximilian Kolbe R.C. Church, 15 E. Pleasant Grove Road, West Chester, PA 19382. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:15 AM to 10:15 AM. Burial will follow Mass at Holy Cross Cemetery, 626 Bailey Road, Yeadon, PA.
