Meyer R. "Hank" Greenberg, 88, of Ridley Park passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of January 12, 2021. Born in Ridley Park, son of the late William and Margaret (McSweeney) Greenberg.
Hank grew up Marcus Hook and Linwood, he went to St. James High School and then graduated from Ridley High School in 1950. At Ridley he was a member of the Section IV Basketball Championship Team which had a record of 15 straight wins and overall record of 20-5. After high school, he played with the Chester Ukrainians and Marcus Hook AA in the SMBA leagues. Hank was also inducted into the Ridley Township and Marcus Hook Hall of Fames for his team contributions and MVP designations in basketball. He joined Sun Oil Co. in 1950 and played basketball there on 5 championship teams. In 1953 he joined the Marine Corps and was discharged as a sergeant in 1956. He returned to Sun Oil then took a position with RCA in Camden, NJ in 1960 and retired from RCA in 1992.
Hank was the loving husband of Anna M. (Nigro) Greenberg, and is also survived by his daughters, Kathy Henry (Mark) and Cindy Volkmann (Ron), four grandchildren Mark Henry (Courtney), Joshua Henry (fiancé' Julianna), Luke Volkmann and Carley Volkmann, his great-grandchildren Elliana and Nolan Henry; also sisters and brother-in-laws as well many nieces and nephews on both the Greenberg and Nigro sides. He was predeceased by his sister Margaret Murphy in 2019.
Above all things, Hank loved to laugh and spend time with his family. Hank was an avid Philly sports fan mostly for the Eagles and Phillies.
