Maryann T. Waite, 77, of Ridley Park, died peacefully under hospice care on Wednesday, April 15, 2020, at Harbor Chase of Wilmington, following a long battle with dementia.

Born in South Philadelphia, Maryann grew up in Prospect Park before moving to Ridley Park, where she lived for over 50 years. She was a graduate of Notre Dame High School, class of 1960 and was employed as an Administrative Assistant for United Parcel Service before retiring in 2007.

Active in her community, Maryann was a cheer coach for the Ridley Park Athletic Club and volunteered for various St. Madeline's school and church activities, while her children were growing up.

Maryann was loved by her family and many friends. Known for her beautiful smile and infectious laugh, she will always live on in the hearts of those who love her. Maryann was a devoted mother and friend who loved to sing and dance. Her family was most important to her, especially her grandchildren.

Maryann was the daughter of the late Samuel Johnson and Mary (Quinn) Johnson; sister of the late Joseph Johnson, Thomas Johnson and Margaret Johnson; and, former wife of the late Donald Waite, Sr.

She is survived by her loving children, Stephen Waite (Denise), Patrick Waite, Maureen Bonnes (Marty) and stepson, Donald Waite, Jr.; sister, Doris Johnson, OFM; sister-in-law, Jean Johnson; brother and sister-in-law, Dick and Jean Waite; 12 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A viewing and funeral mass will be held at a later date at St. Rose of Lima Church in Eddystone and burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon.
