MaryAnn Vail, age 86 of Swarthmore, PA passed away peacefully on February 23, 2024.

MaryAnn was born and raised in Chester, PA to the late Lawrence and Mildred Vail. She was one of 11.

MaryAnn graduated from Norte Dame High School in 1955.  She went on to become of Sister of Notre Dame where she took on the title Sister Joseph Veronica. She graduated from Trinity College in 1967 with a degree in Education.

After leaving the convent, MaryAnn taught in a variety of grades at Nether Providence Elementary. She taught for over 30 years, during that time enriching the lives of many students in the Wallingford-Swarthmore School District. Her unwavering patience, compassion and dedication towards teaching will always inspire us to be better. She retired in June 2000.

In her younger years, MaryAnn enjoyed basketball. She loved reading, going to the beach, and visiting the casino.  She also loved spending time with family and friends. Mary Ann will be known for her generous heart.

MaryAnn was a devoted sister and aunt to her many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers Earl Vail, Paul Vail, Jack Vail, Tommy Vail, her sisters Doris Butler, Rose Sperone and Agnes Vail, her nieces Debbie Johnson, Denise Stang, and Amy Johnson, and her nephews Jerry Vail and Harry Sperone.

She is survived by her sisters, Rita Catania and Betty Wenger, brother Bobby Vail, sister-in-law Ruth Vail, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Mass 10:30 AM Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church, 208 Milmont Ave., Milmont Park where relatives and friends may call 9:15 to 10:15 AM.  Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Media.
