Obituary
Mary D. Schlegel (78) of Maris Grove, died on June 25, 2022.
Born in Flushing, NY, she lived in Middletown Township before moving to her late residence five years ago.
Mary was a longtime Realtor in Media and the surrounding area. She also coached swimming and diving for 59 years, most notably at Knowlton Swim Club and Penncrest High School.
Mary was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and graduated from Ellis Girls High School, class of 1962, and also attended West Chester Teachers College.
She was the former President of the Aston Women's Club, a member of the Masonic Women's Auxiliary, and actively led church youth groups for a number of years. Her greatest legacy lies in the many lives she positively influenced.
Mary was the wife of the late Frederick G. Schlegel, her husband of 41 years who died in 2009, and daughter of the late Charles P. and Evelyn Reuss Dietz.
She is survived by her sons, Colonel Charles 'Doc' Schlegel , USAF (Ret) (Christina) and Erich G. Schlegel (Paige); her brother Charley W. Dietz (Paddy); also, her grandchildren, Jakob, Brooke, Connor, Kai, and Lukas Schlegel.
Burial Rite and Eucharist is at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Christ Episcopal Church, 104 Nevin St., Ridley Park, PA 19078.
