Obituary

Mary J. Flood Purcell, 81, of Ridley Park died March 9, 2016, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law. Born and raised in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Hugh and Catherine Sweeney Flood and moved to her late residence 60 years ago.

Mary was a graduate of West Catholic High School, class of 1952 and was very involved with the alumni association. She was employed by Scott Paper Company as a receptionist before retiring in 1996. Mary was a member of the Church of St. Madeline, the Sodality and the Most Blessed Sacrament Gang. She was active with the Parents Association at Don Guanella Village and volunteered for Meals on Wheels, but most important was her love and devotion to her cherished family.

Mary was predeceased by her loving husband of 31 ½ years, Joseph J. Purcell, who died February 28, 2012; her sister, Roseanne Vitulli; her grandson, Matthew Infanti; and her great granddaughter, Sophia Abbott.

Survivors: devoted mother of Jack J. Abbott, Maureen E. Infanti (Michael), Hugh M. Abbott (Donna) and Michael P. Abbott (Rebecca); her sister, Catherine Anderson; also survived by 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Visitation: 8:45-9:45 AM Monday, March 14, 2016 at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park, PA 19078

Funeral Mass: 10:30 AM Monday at the Church of St. Madeline, Penn St. and Morton Ave., Ridley Park, PA 19078.

Burial: SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery
