Mary Louise (Olson) Brown, 91, of Swarthmore, PA, died early in the morning on November 13, 2017. She was born in Winnetka, Illinois, the youngest child of Oscar W. Olson Sr. and Mary Virginia Olson. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Interior Decorating from the University of Kentucky in 1948. Following college, she returned to the Chicago area, taking a position in the Interior Decorating Department of Marshall Field's, where she met Chilton Pleasants Brown. They were married in 1950. Their growing family moved to the East Coast in 1954, settling in Scarsdale, New York. Mary Louise was active in various civic causes in Scarsdale, and served for many years as the Chairperson of the Scarsdale Democratic Town Committee. She also served as campaign staff for successful races for Congress and County Executive in Westchester County.

Mary Louise and Chilton later moved to Hartsdale, New York, and subsequently resided in Hamden, Connecticut and Brooklyn, New York, where Chilton died in 2012. She moved to Swarthmore in 2014 to live with her son and his husband.

She is survived by four sons: Randall of Felton, California, Bert (Nellie Donovan) of Santa Cruz, California, Curtis (Claudia Ma) of Keene, New York, and Gregory (Linton Stables) of Swarthmore; and six grandchildren.

In accordance with her wishes there will be no funeral or memorial service. Greg and Linton will receive family and friends at their home in Swarthmore on Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Democratic candidate or charity of your choice.
