Marilyn E. Ahrens Sterling, 81, of Ridley Township died June 7, 2016. Born in Amsterdam, NY, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Muriel Peckover Ahrens and resided in Essington before moving to her late residence 62 years ago.

Along with her late husband, Dave, they owned and operated Sterling Dry Wall and she previously worked at Cumberland Farms. Marilyn loved traveling, especially cruising. She crocheted lap robes for nursing homes, made greeting cards and attended rubber stamp conventions. Marilyn was a former Girl Scout Leader, Troop #876, and wrote to over 20 pen pals in the USA for many years.

Marilyn was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, David Wesley Sterling, who died April 21, 2006; her daughter, Sandra Sterling Thomas, who died April 18, 1988; and her grandson, Robert S. Ziegler.

Survivors: mother to Diana Cannon (Robert) and Jacqueline Ziegler (Ronald); sister to Thomas Hill (Bonnie); also survived by seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren
