Marie Elizabeth Miller Zakorchemny, 90, of Aston, died April 7, 2020 at her home. Born in Delta, PA, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Mary McGinness Miller and resided in Wilmington, DE and Chester before moving to her late residence 51 years ago.
Marie was a graduate of Chester High School, class of 1948 and was Owner/Operator of Marie's Beauty Shop in Chester. She also worked as an Aide at the Crozer-Chester Medical Center for 27 years before retiring in 1996. Upon retirement, Marie became a full-time volunteer at Crozer Chester Medical Center's Senior Center and the Aston Seniors. She was a member of the Church of St. Joseph, where she participated in the church's RICA group. Marie was active in the Chester East Little League, President of the Ladies Auxiliary and active in all of her children and grandchildren's activities. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crafts, traveling with senior groups, taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was the caregiver of her husband for over 33 years. Marie was an avid Phillies, Eagles and Penn State Football fan.
She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Joseph Zakorchemny, Sr., who died July 6, 2002; and her brother, Bernard Miller, Jr.
Marie is survived by her sons, Michael Zakorchemny, Sr. (Deborah), Joseph Zakorchemny, Jr. (Catherine) and Walter Zakorchemny (Karen Barnes); her grandchildren, Crystal Taylor (Greg), Lindsay Zakorchemny (Brandon), Michael Zakorchemny, Jr. (Laura), Kevin Zakorchemny, Lyon Zakorchemny and Cooper Zakorchemny; her great grandchildren, Zachary, Alex, and Patrick Taylor; and her nephews, Bernard Miller, III and David Miller.
Service and Burial: Private with a Memorial Mass at a later date.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Church of St. Joseph or a charity of the donor's choice in her memory.
