Mary (Marie) T. McDevitt Savinese
Marie Savinese, cherished Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend, passed away on April 9th 2020 from natural causes at the age of 87 (39-1/2). She was born in Philadelphia, PA and grew up in Drexel Hill. Marie was the daughter of the late Thomas and Ann McHugh McDevitt. She was the wife of the late Julius (Jule) Savinese, who passed away in 2002. Marie was also the mother of the late Sharon Savinese, who passed away in 2010. Sister of the late Thomas McDevitt (Dolores), James McDevitt (Penny) and Rose McWilliams (Bernie).
Marie is survived by her daughters, Linda Finan (Geno) and Michele Juisti (Steven); adoring grandmother of Geno Jr. (Sue), Sean (Megan), Josh (Kristy), Julie Osborn (Andrew), Megan Four (Andrew), Steven (Shawna), Ryan (Rachel), Danielle Keenan (Joseph) and Jamie. She is survived by twenty great grandchildren. Marie is also survived by her sisters, Mary Ann (Nancy) O'Donoghue, Ph.D. (Joseph), Betty Devinney (late William) and Bernadette McClean (Thomas). She also had many nieces and nephews, who she loved dearly and many amazing and wonderful friends. Marie is also survived by her granddogs Molly and Daisy.
Marie graduated from Upper Darby in 1950. After graduation, she went on to have a very successful career in many different fields. Marie's first job was at Wampole & Co., a pharmaceutical company in Philadelphia. After, she started selling real estate for the Catania Agency in Milmont Park in the early 60's. Marie also worked for Noyes Realty in Swarthmore and served as President of the Delaware County Real Estate Board in 1974. During this time, Marie also hosted a radio show on WEEZ, "The News and View of Ridley Township. After her real estate career, Marie started to sell Insurance for Prudential. She worked for Prudential from 1985 until her retirement in 1997.
Marie always had a smile on her face and made everyone around her smile. She was kind, generous, always there to listen, offer advice, and help people in any way she could. Marie had many friends and met new ones everywhere she went and always had a connection with them. She was full of energy and spunk and always had a positive attitude. Marie never had a bad day in her life.
Marie liked socializing, dancing, meeting people and was well known for the parties in her basement. She was always the life of the party. Marie was a resident of Ridley Township for 66 years, where she was involved with the Republican Party. Marie enjoyed being at her second home in Chesapeake City, MD. She was member of Hollywood Beach for 35 years. Marie was also the President of Brandywine Signs in Edgemont, PA. She was a member of the Upper Chesapeake Yacht Club in Shady Side, MD and the West End Boat Club in Essington, PA.
Due to the current health crisis in this world, burial will be private. A Celebration of Marie's Life will be held at a later date.
