Marie-Jeanne Whiteside, 91, of Clifton Heights, died December 21, 2014 at Vitas at Mercy Fitzgerald.
Born in Bristol, she was a longtime resident of Glenolden before moving to her late residence 2 ½ years ago.
She was last employed by M.A. Bruder and Sons in Broomall for 15 years, retiring in 1992, and previously worked at 1st Pennsylvania Bank and West Chemical.
She was a graduate of Notre Dame High School for Girls. Marie-Jeanne was a strong, independent woman who raised three children on her own. She was a very private person with a great sense of humor, who always spoke her mind. She enjoyed reading, going to the movies, music and caring for her many pets over the years.
Marie-Jeanne was a devoted homemaker and especially loved time with her children and grandchildren.
She was the daughter of the late Henry and Florence White (Whitmore) and sister of the late Edwin White, Adelaide Heyburn and Florence White.
She is survived by her children Dolores Werths, Sam Whiteside (Debbie) and Denise O'Shaughnessy; grandchildren Brigid, Marcel, Jean-Guy, Karen, Matt and Leigh; great grandchildren Eric, Corbin and Maizie; also her brother Harry "Herky" White.
Marie-Jeanne was a selfless person and at her request she was a donor to Humanity Gifts.
