Margarette E. "Mimi" nee Dougherty Connor, born February 2, 1915 –died June 14, 2022. From Chadds Ford, previously of Ridley Park. Predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Frank I. Connor, sons John Joseph "Jay" Connor and Thomas Connor, and grandchildren Vincent Connor, Mary Di Bernadenis, and John Gormley Jr. She is survived by four of her children: Margo Gormley (husband- John), Frank I Connor Jr. (wife- Gerry), LeeAnne McGough (husband- Joe), and Suzanne "Sue" Connor. Mimi was the matriarch of the family with 23 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, and 18 great-great grandchildren. She shared a special relationship with every one of her grandchildren, spending most of her years babysitting well into her 90's. When asked to share the secret to her long life, she often responded that it was the joy and love for and of her grandchildren-- and drinking a Rum and Coke. She is remembered drinking tea, reading the newspaper, and being her cheeky, chatty, and very lovable self.
Mimi grew up in Merion, moved to Narberth, West Philadelphia, and then settled at Ridley Park for 59 years beginning in 1954. She graduated high school from Merion Mercy Academy and attended Rosemont College in 1932 before marrying the love of her life. At 98 years young, she moved in with her daughter in Chadds Ford. She was an avid daily reader, crocheted, and knitted. She enjoyed watching Jeopardy to test her knowledge, and Judge Judy for pure entertainment. She stayed up to date on the stock market and politics until just days before she died and shared her opinions to anyone who listened. She was an active member of St. Madeline's parish from 1954.
