Margaret M. Rooney (nee McCarthy), 78 of Ridley Park died on November 21, 2025 at her home.  Born and raised in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Walter H. and Clare Kane McCarthy.

Margaret was a graduate of Cardinal Doughtery High School, class of 1965 and received a bachelor's degree from Temple University and had also attended Drexel University.  Before her retirement in 2009, she worked for the Borough of Ridley Park as the Director of the Ridley Park Library.  Margaret loved the Lord and was an active member of Hope Community Church (formerly First Baptist Church of Ridley Park) where she was a member of the choir and helped created special music programs.  She was an avid Eagles fan, enjoyed crocheting and always loved trips to Stone Harbor and Wildwood, NJ.

She was the loving wife of 56 years to Robert T. Rooney, mother of James W. Rooney (Tara) and the late Sharon M. Rooney, sister of Catherine Slegal (Harvey) and the late Marie Notarfrancesco (Peter), grandmother of Colleen K. Rooney, James R. Rooney (Kaylee Opperman), Shannon Rooney, great-grandmother of Bradley Rooney and is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service 11 AM Monday, December 8, 2025 at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park where relatives and friends may call after 10 AM.  Burial Chester Rural Cemetery.
