Obituary

Margaret "Peggy" Jane Walker Charles, on January 9, 2016, Peggy Charles, age 80, was finally free of Alzheimer's and in her Savior's arms. She was the devoted wife of Robert A. Charles for 50 years and patiently listened to all his jokes. Bob and Melinda were beyond blessed to have a mother who loved them unconditionally: sledding with us, allowing us gerbils, a horse and dogs, cheering us at every game, making sure we were at church each Sunday, sharing her love of Jesus with us, crying with us when we messed up, not changing the locks when we really messed up, choosing a day to skip school once a year to shop and have lunch together, not letting us hang on the corners at night, making our Christmas' magical, waiting to be our friend when we were adults and for being our mom always.

Peggy was last employed by CoreStates Bank in the Ridley and Bala Cynwyd offices and was a member of the Aldan Union Church. She was a wonderful daughter who took care of her parents when her father lived with Alzheimer's and her mother with old age. Peggy loved the beach in Rehoboth where she had a home for over 20 years. She enjoyed sitting on the beach from morning to evening. She was a fabulous cook and gardener. Peggy had Super Bowl and 4th of July parties every year, but Christmas Eve was her favorite time to entertain. She loved Breyer's Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream and the color red. Peggy was quick to step in if there was a need in someone's life and always had a hug or encouraging words. She would wait up to ask about our dates and lovingly try to embarrass us in public. "Because He Lives" was her favorite hymn and every time we sang it in church we would laugh and cry together. Peggy always cared deeply for those who were not as blessed as her and her laugh will never be forgotten.

Thank you Fair Acres staff for your loving care and support for the last 5 years and being our family. She would want you to know that.

Until we see your precious face again.....we love you mom.

Peggy was wife of the late Robert A. Charles who died on January 31, 2009, daughter of the late Lyle Francis and Margaret Frances Forsyth Walker and sister of the late Donald Walker.
