Mabel E. Whitby-Martin-Carr 90 of Ridley Township, died October 22, 2014 at St. Francis Country House.

She was a school bus driver for the Delaware County Intermediate Unit, retiring in 1989 and previously was a Lab Technician at Sun Oil Company.

Mrs. Carr was reared in The Wallingford Orphanage with her four siblings where they established family ties with the other children which have lasted her lifetime.

She was a member of Notre Dame deLourdes R.C. Church and was a graduate of Nether Providence High School, class of 1942. Mabel loved trips to the casino but her greatest joy was time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff of St. Francis where she received extraordinary care for three years.

She was wife of the late William V. Martin and the late William A. Carr; daughter of the late Clarence and Mabel Bail Whitby and sister of the late Earle Whitby, Elsie Sullivan, Gertrude Maxwell, Charles Whitby, James Whitby and Frank Whitby.

She is survived by her children Deborah A. Sweeney (Patrick), Karen E. Rowles-Ianna (John) and John F. Martin (Doris); eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and one great great grandson and the extended Carr family and many special nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass 10:30AM Monday, October 27, 2014 at Notre Dame deLourdes R.C. Church, Fairview Rd. and Michigan Ave., Swarthmore, PA where friends may call 9 to 10:15AM. Burial SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Memorial gifts to the above church.
