Obituary

Lucy Brabec, 90, died on November 10th, 2022. Born in Philadelphia, Lucy resided in Ridley Park for over 58 years before moving to Maris Grove in Glen Mills four years ago. She was the daughter of the late Antonio and Angelina Manno and sister to the late Mary Geissler, Madeline Martin, Teresa Powers and Nick Manno.

Lucy attended South Philadelphia High School for girls where she made many life-long friendships that she cherished. While raising her children, Lucy worked part time at Strawbridge & Clothier before becoming the office manager at a local home inspection company.
In 1987, Lucy married the love of her life, Jim Brabec who preceded her in death. They spent 28 wonderful years traveling the states and spending time with both of their families. Lucy was an avid reader and volunteered for many years at the Ridley Park Library. If she wasn't working or at the library, one of her favorite haunts was the casino.

Lucy was a faithful member of St. Madeline's Parish and devout believer in the power of the Blessed Mother. Ask anyone who knew Lucy, she was responsible for many sunny days that originally called for rain by placing her beloved Blessed Mother Statue in the window. According to her many compassionate care givers at Maris Grove, Lucy's infectious smile and laugh brought joy to everyone's path she crossed.

A staple of Lucy's life was her devotion and love of her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Sara and Justin Alleman and their 5 children, Tanner, Lainey, Taylor, Bristol and Tripp, Ryan DiFelice, Patrick and Rebecca Zimmerman and their son Parker, Matthew Zimmerman and fiancé Hannah Shevlin and Emily Plaugher. Lucy was also blessed with the love of Jim's children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Lucy's memory will be forever treasured by her brother Anthony Manno and wife Ellen of Doylestown, her children Louis DiFelice of Lancaster, Diane (Pat) Zimmerman of Ridley Park and Angela (Rick) Plaugher of Brookhaven.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at The Church of St. Madeline, 400 Morton Avenue, Ridley Park, PA where relatives and friends may call from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Burial will be at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
