Lucy Ann Marchesani Borgese 88, a longtime resident of the Folsom section of Ridley Township, passed away peacefully on May 11. She was predeceased in 2007 by her loving husband of 60 years, Joseph N. Borgese. She was born in Ridley Park to the late Benedetta and Guiseppe Marchesani. Lucy was a 1942 graduate of Ridley Park High School where she earned a varsity letter in field hockey. She was always ready and willing to join in any adventure and impacted so many lives. She loved people and always wanted to have fun.
In addition to being a homemaker, Lucy worked many jobs. During WWII she worked for the departments of Navy and Army. During the 1960's Lucy was one of the first women real estate agents in Delaware County. She was affiliated with the Primo J. Modesti Agency in Folsom. She later worked as a customer service representative for Aldan Rug Company in Aston. In 1973, she became the secretary to the comptroller for WAWA, Inc. and later retired as a regional office manager for WAWA in 1989. She continued to work for them on part-time basis until 2006.
Lucy co-founded the Fabulous Forties Annual Reunion for Ridley Park High School with her lifelong friend, Dukie Harper Cross. Lucy was an avid Pinochle Player and loved to play ping pong. She was a member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and a member of the Notre Dame Golden Age Club. Lucy and her husband, Joe, loved to travel. They journeyed to Europe, Japan, and throughout the United States including Hawaii. In her spare time, Lucy created specialized photo birthday books for family members.
She was the sister of the late Mary Greto, Jenny Greto and Tony, Mike, Nick and Lou Marchesani.
Survivors: Daughters, Bernadette A. "Bonnie" Zeleznick (Joe) of Aston, Marianne B. Bogucki (Frank) of Swarthmore, Jolene A. Borgese of Chester Springs, niece who was raised as a daughter, Sharon (Marchesani) Gordon (Jim) of Hendersonville, NC and son, Thomas J. Borgese (Terri) of Swarthmore; three granddaughters, Bridget, Kerri and Molly Borgese; five step-grandchildren, Karen Rowe, Michael and Brian Gordon, Frank Bogucki Jr. and Kim Landolf; and ten step-great-grandchildren. Lucy extended her heart to her many loving nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Mass: 10 AM Wednesday, May 16, St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Simpson Street and Chester Pike, Eddystone.
Visitation: 7-9 Tuesday night, May 15 and 8:30 to 9:15 AM Wednesday, May 16, White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Avenue, Ridley Park 19078.
