Louis J. Schmehl 81 of Colwyn died November 26, 2015 at Taylor Hospice Residence.

Born in Philadelphia, he was son of the late Horace and Emily Miller Schmehl and lived in Darby before moving to his late residence 25 years ago.

Louis was a driver for Roberts Filter, retiring in 1996. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War and a member of St. James Episcopal Church.

Louis loved trains, building models, doing puzzles, gardening , was good with a hammer and nails, building and remodeling. He enjoyed being with and helping people but most important to him was his family.

Louis is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Shirley A. Francis Schmehl; his children, Louis J. Maiellano (Gail) and Shirley Ann Schmehl and his brother, Edward H. Schmehl.

Funeral Service 11:00AM Thursday, December 3, 2015 at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park.
Visitation 7 to 9PM Wednesday and after 10:00AM Thursday at the funeral home. Burial private.
