Loretta M. Sharkey Barnett, 82 of Eddystone, died January 5, 2012 at Taylor Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Chester, she was the daughter of the late Leo J. and Helen Leslie Sharkey and was a lifelong resident of Eddystone.
Loretta was a graduate of Eddystone High School, Class of 1947 where she was a standout girl's athlete.

She enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events, loved Philadelphia sports teams and tennis but most important was her devotion to her children and grandchildren.

Mrs. Barnett was wife of the late William M. Barnett, Sr., her husband of 54 years, who died on September 16, 2004, and mother of the late Robert A. and Loretta Barnett, grandmother of the late Colleen Connolly and great-grandmother of the late Reese Goslee. She was also predeceased by her siblings Helen E., Harry J., Thomas E., Sara A. and James L. Sharkey.

Survivors; her children Kristine Albaugh (George), Jaclyn Battinieri (Guy), William M. Barnett, Jr. (JoAnne), Helen Fotiades (John), Tracy Connolly and Thomas J. Barnett (Dawn), her brother Richard Sharkey, and also 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral Mass 11:00AM Monday, January 9, 2012 at St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, Simpson St. and Chester Pike, Eddystone.

Visitation: 8:30AM to 10:15AM at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park.
Burial Immaculate Heart Cemetery.
