Linda S. Seward (nee Briske), 73 of Whispering Pines, NC passed away on November 2, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Ridley Park, the daughter of the late Theodore and Emily Koval Briske, she lived for many years in Norwood before moving to Illinois in the early 2000s and finally settling in North Carolina.
Linda was a graduate of Notre Dame High School, class of 1970 and a former member of St. Gabriel R.C. Church in Norwood. While living in Whispering Pines, Linda served on the Whispers Board for several years. In her spare time Linda enjoyed listening to music and frequently attended concerts to see her favorite rock country band, Old Crow Medicine Show, live on stage. Linda was an avid shopper and enjoyed watching the original soap operas.
She was the loving wife of the late Robert "Bob" Seward, mother of Lori Shelton (John), grandmother of John Shelton, III, Maggie Shelton and Amelia Shelton, sister of the late James Briske and Joan McConville. Linda is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and her parrot, Calypso.
The family is deeply grateful to the loving community of friends and neighbors in Whispering Pines who surrounded Linda with kindness and compassion.
Funeral Service 10 AM Saturday November 22, 2025 at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park where relatives and friends may call after 9 AM. Burial will follow in Glenwood Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to The American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org/ would be appreciated.
