Lawrence E. Prendergast, 87 a lifelong resident of Aston died September 8, 2014 at his home. Born in Upland, he was son of the late Lawrence Prendergast and Blanche Ireane Cook Ferry.
He was a veteran of both the US Army Air Corp and the Air Force, serving during World War II for which he received the World War II Victory Medal and the American Campaign Medal. "Tricky Dick" or "Dick Bird" as he was known by many was last employed as a welder at Sun Ship for many years, retiring in 1983. He loved riding his Harley and spending time on the water in his boat. He adored his dogs Sugar and Momma and one of his favorite sayings was "Whoope-TA".
Lawrence was husband of the late Lucille N. "Lou" Banta Prendergast who died April 12, 1997 after 44 years of marriage.
Survivors: father of Roseanne J. "Penny" Bohn, Eileen M. "Pidgie" Hitchens (Fred "Dallas"), Richard L. Prendergast and Theresa M. Osten-Sacken (Andrew N.), brother of Blanche "Penny" Powell, also eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and his longtime companion Ada Andrew Prendergast.
