Dr. Lawrence A. "Larry" Herbst, 71, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2016 at The Residence in Glen Riddle where he had been a resident for the past three years. He was the son of the late Clemens and Margaret Herbst.
Larry was a graduate of St. James in Chester, PA, Dartmouth College and the University of Pennsylvania where he received his Master's and Doctorate Degrees in Economic History. His career was spent as a teaching professor in the Economics Department and as an advisor to students at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie NY, an occupation which he loved. However, due to illness he had been on medical leave for a period of years. Larry had a brilliant mind, a sense of humor and he was never happier than when he was buying or reading a book. He had an interest and a in-depth knowledge of many varied subjects. He loved celebrating holidays and visiting with family.
Survivors: his son Christopher Herbst of Hoosick Fall, N.Y., his brother Clemens Herbst of Aston, his sisters Martha (Richard), and Josephine Herbst of Aston. His niece and nephews Wendy, Stephen and Douglas.
Memorial Mass: 11 AM Saturday February 27, 2016 at St. Francis de Sales Church, 39 New Rd., Aston, Pa. In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made in his name to St. Francis De Sales School, c/o the above address.
