Lawrence F. Barker, 84 of Ridley Park, died March 23, 2011 at Taylor Hospital.
Born in Philadelphia and reared in Darby, he was son of the late Norman and Dora Niefer Barker.
Mr. Barker has lived in Ridley Park for 50 years, previously residing Darby.
He was a graduate of Darby High School, Class of 1946 and was a WWII US Army Veteran.
He was employed as a metal fabricator at Davidson Fabricating in Broomall for 45 years and previously tended bar at weddings in Delco Halls for 30 years.
He was Athletic Director at St. Madeline's during the 1970's and 1980's and also coached Leedom Little League Baseball. Mr. Barker was cofounder of Ridley Soccer, was a board member at Nassau Swim Club, and a member of Peace Council Knights of Columbus.
He was husband of the late Mary Catherine Garvey Barker who died in 1985, brother of the late Norman and George Barker, grandfather of the late Jeffrey A. Ferkler who died March 17, 1997.
Survivors: children Mary Ellen Ferkler (Joseph), Lawrence (Teresa), Sean (Billi-Jo), James (Paula), Patricia, Kathleen, Edward, Regina, Joseph and Patrick (Marie) Barker .Also grandchildren Justin, Christopher, Matthew, Maura, Connor, Carlye, Brian, Brenna, Kelly, Shauna and Shea.
Funeral Mass: 10 AM Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at The Church of St. Madeline, Penn Street and Morton Avenue, Ridley Park.
Visitation: 6 to 8 PM Monday and 9 to 9:45 AM Tuesday at the church.
Burial: SS Peter & Paul Cemetery
