Kathryn A. "Kay" Desmond Bauernschmidt, 89, of West Chester died on February 10, 2016 in the comforts of her home. Born in Sharon Hill, daughter of the late James J. and Hilda I. Donohue Desmond, she lived in Morton prior to moving to her West Chester residence 54 years ago.

Kay was a founding member of St. Simon and Jude Church where she was a member of the Seniors and Ladies Guild. Kay was very involved with the John F. Kennedy campaign and loved to shop (fashionista) and going to the casinos. She enjoyed time at Long Beach Island, Lake Keowee and Hack's Point MD, but the most important, was time spent with family and friends.

She was wife of the late George W. Bauernschmidt after 62 years of marriage, mother of the late Timothy J. "Tim" Bauernschmidt, grandmother of the late Billy Bauernschmidt and sister of the late James J. Desmond, Jr, and Hilda Dorsey.

Survivors: mother of William "Bill" (Debbie), Robert "Bob" (Christy), James "Jim" (Kim) and George "Jay" (Sally) Bauernschmidt Also survived by her sisters Mary Jane Desmond, Sue Nielsen and her daughter-in-law Julie. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass 11:30 AM Tuesday at St. Simon and Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Ct., West Chester, PA 19382 where friends may call after 10:00 AM. Burial Private.
