Kathleen E. Kaiser, 91, of Swarthmore, PA, died March 11, 2021 at Crozer Medical Center. Born and raised in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Helen Brown Ritchie and moved to her late residence in 1958.
Kathleen was a graduate of John Bartram High School where she especially enjoyed music activities, including the honor of playing cello in the All-Philadelphia Orchestra and singing in the All-Philadelphia Choir. Kay was very proud of her MacIntosh clan Scottish heritage and loved to tell the story of how her parents came to America as young adults. She was a member of Grace Bible Fellowship Church in Wallingford and especially enjoyed time with the Young at Heart Seniors there. Kay loved going down the Shore to OCNJ, having a good time with family and friends and finding a great deal while shopping.
She spent a lifetime taking good care of her family, working hard, reading for pleasure and for learning, praying for her family and friends and turning out great meals. While some of her family have tried and come close, no one can quite make a meat pie as good as Kay did. She loved the Black Watch Pipes and Drums, the Philadelphia Mummers String Bands, the majestic swell of an organ and the beauty of an orchestra or choral voices raised in song. She especially loved spending time and making memories with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her much joy.
Kathleen was predeceased by her husband, Donald W. Kaiser, her first husband Robert MacFarland, and her siblings William Ritchie, Eleanor Kilburn, Esther Neely, Marguerite "Mac" Ritchie, Donald Ritchie and Dorothy Cowgill.
She is survived by her children Joyce K Shellenberger (Donald L.) and Kevin W Kaiser (Sharon), her five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Service and Burial: Private with a Memorial Service to be held at a later date.
