Josephine Joan Malizia, 95, of Lancaster, formerly of Eddystone, died Sept. 7, 2015 with her loving family by her side. Born in Atlas, PA, she was the daughter of the late Adam and Violet Skubaszeski. Josephine married Dominic Malizia in 1944 and he preceded her in death on October 4, 1996.
Josephine was an amazing woman. She was a welder at the Chester Ship Yard during WWII and owned and operated Malizia Flower and Garden Mart. Josephine was all about family and home. She and Dominic kept their historical 250 year old home in Eddystone in meticulous condition. She was well known for her cooking talents and love for entertaining family and friends. She traveled with Dominic and enjoyed the family vacations in Ocean City, NJ, and, in her later years, enjoyed trips to visit family in Florida, Illinois and South Carolina. She also played the lottery and enjoyed her Church casino trips. Always a Philadelphia Eagles Fan!
Her generosity benefited many. Josephine had an unwavering faith in God and prayed the rosary every night as a devout Catholic.
She is survived by her children who will continue her legacy; Gloria Schleicher (Dennis), Donald Malizia (Linda Cleary); loving grandchildren Dennis Schleicher, Jr., Jennifer Karahalis, Michael Schleicher, Meredith Thompson and Brenda Mendoza and 11 great-ones (as she referred to them); Joshua, Andrew, Dennis, Noah, Jordan, Dominic, Carlos, Chase, Olivia, Eric and Issac: sisters in law and many nieces and nephews. Sister Catherine McErlean, IHM was a special friend.
