Obituary

Joseph J. Purcell, 82 of Ridley Park, died February 28, 2012 at home.

Born in Girardville, PA, he lived in Collingdale and Malvern before moving to his late residence 31 ½ years ago.

Joe was employed as a machinist at Kurz Hastings Company. A graduate of St. Joseph's High School, Class of 1947, Joe was an avid Notre Dame Football fan and enjoyed old movies, crossword puzzles and the Phillies, but his true passion was his family.

He was a member of the Church of St. Madeline and Local # 115; and a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War, receiving the Combat Infantryman Badge, United Nations Service Medal and the Korean Service with one Bronze Service Star

He was son of the late Edward and Mary Conroy Purcell, husband of the late Jean Kennedy Purcell, who died in 1972, grandfather of the late Matthew Infanti and great-grandfather of the late Sophia Abbott, and he was the last of ten siblings.

Survivors; his loving wife of 31 ½ years, Mary J. Flood Abbott Purcell, his children; Jack J. Abbott, Maureen E. Infanti (Michael), Hugh M. Abbott (Donna) and Michael P. Abbott (Rebecca), grandchildren; Erin, Megan, Alison, Michael, Hugh, Joseph, Shane, Michael, Amanda, Patrick and Jackson, eight great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Services; At Joe's request, a Liturgy Service will be held at 12:00Noon Saturday, at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park.
Visitation; after 11:00AM at the funeral home.

Burial SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
