IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joseph "Joe"
Peter Cacciatore
January 6, 2023
Joseph (Joe) Peter Cacciatore of Glen Mills, Pennsylvania passed at age 78 surrounded by his family on January 6, 2023. Born March 18, 1944, he graduated from Saint James High School in 1962. Joe enlisted in the US Air Force between 1962 and 1966 and served in the Civil Engineering Detachment at Kinchelow Air Force Base Michigan and later Inchlic Air Force Base, Turkey. After receiving his Honorable Discharge from the Air Force, Joe began a rewarding 35-year career in the environmental control field. He was employed by Elwyn Institute, DELCORA, Metcalf & Eddy and Killam Associates. He retired in 2000 as Vice President and General Manager of Killam Management & Operating Services. After his first retirement, Joe turned his long time flying passion into his second career as a corporate pilot for Flight Safety, and EastCoast Jets. Joe achieved all his flight ratings starting as a humble private pilot in 1984 and eventually earning his Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) in 2005. At age 60, Joe was type rated in the Hawker 800 business jet and flying throughout the country. This was the realization of a childhood dream come true.
Joe shared 56 loving years with his wife, Carol (Ziegler) Cacciatore. Together, they raised two children Vince and Joelle Cacciatore in Glen Mills, PA. Joe was a proud father and grandfather of two granddaughters Lauren and Maddie. He enjoyed teaching them how to fish and crab from his boat on the Chesapeake Bay. Joe also enjoyed many hobbies including skydiving (Jump Master), scuba diving, hunting, skiing, woodworking and traveling with Carol to the Islands, Europe and the Middle East. For over a decade, Joe was a Captain for the Civil Air Patrol senior squadron based out of Wilmington, Delaware, where he flew multiple search and rescue missions in the Delmarva area, and inspired new cadets with the joy of flying. Joe was happiest entertaining his friends and family off his beloved "LADY C", hosting pool parties at his home, or hanging with the SugarSands gang in Florida. He was often found manning the grill, mixing drinks, and cheering on his Philadelphia Eagles (E.A.G.L.E.S).
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Vincenzo (Jimmy) Cacciatore, Angelina (Piotti) Cacciatore, sister Jeannette (Eusden) Cacciatore and brother Robert Cacciatore. Joe is greatly missed by his wife, Carol; children, Vince Cacciatore, Joelle (Iwobi) Cacciatore; grandchildren, Lauren Cacciatore and Maddie Cacciatore; his brother, Dominick Cacciatore, and his daughter-in-law Tracey (Lyon) Cacciatore and son-in-law Obiora Iwobi.
