Joseph S. Kowalewski,93 of Ridley Park, died on March 29,2023 at the home of his daughter. Bom in Chester to the late Dominic B. and Annie Regina Przedzial Kowalewski. Joseph was a graduate of St. James High School, class of 1948; PMC (now Widener University) taking night classes for 6 years so he could have summers free to be with his family.
He graduated with a BS in Engineering. He was a Nuclear Quality Assurance Engineer the Public Service Electric and Gas until his retirement in 1995. Previously he worked at Westinghouse, BP Oil Refinery and GE. Joe was a member of St. Madeline Parish and volunteered at Chester County Art Association. He took up watercolor painting in his retirement, taking classes at the School House Senior Center. He later published a book showcasing his artwork and techniques. With the help of his sons. Joe built a cabin in the Poconos, spending holidays & long weekends there with family.
Joseph was the loving husband of the late Mary Wagner Kowalewski (his wife of 55 years) who died in 2007, father of the late Kenneth P Kowalewski and Karen M. Kowalewski and brother of the late Barbara Pochopien and Bemard Kowalewski.
He is survived by his children, David R. Kowalewski (Rose), Dennis J. Kowalewski (Harsha), Kathleen J. Way and Jean A. DelViscio (Daniel); his sister Marie Frazer (David); also, his grandchildren Milan, William (Gabrielle), Carolyn (Nate), Jason, Jacob, Matthew, Jessica and Mary.
Funeral Mass 10:00AM Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at The Church of St. Madeline, 400 Morton Ave., Ridley Park, where relatives and friends may call 9:00 until 9:45AM. Burial private.
