Joseph P. Dougherty, 64, of Port Orange, FL died on April 22, 2014 at his home. Born and raised in Chester, he was son of the late Joseph T. and Mildred B. Sell Dougherty. He graduated from St. James High School, class of 1967 and was a member of St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church.
Joseph was employed by Sun Company for 18 years and previously worked for Medford's Meat Packing and Scott Paper. He served in the US Navy during Vietnam and was a member of the American Legion Post #911 and the VFW in Port Orange. He was an avid Phillies fan, reader, enjoyed a good conversation, was very social and enjoyed dancing and singing.
Joseph was predeceased by his brother, Michael P. Dougherty.
Joseph is survived by his children, Jodie McKeown and Tara Boyd; his stepson, Cory Halloran; his siblings, Elizabeth "Betsy" Talone (Bob), Carolyn Swan (Ed) and Kenneth P. Dougherty (Danielle); his five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews; also, his former wife, Irene Locke.
Funeral Mass: 10:00 AM Monday at St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, 1901 Chester Pike, Eddystone, PA where friends may call from 9-9:45 AM
Burial: SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery
