Joseph M. Blake, 95 of the Maris Grove Community in Glen Mills died on November 2, 2024 at his home.  Born in Philadelphia, the son of the late John and Mary Dyer Blake, he lived in Glenolden before moving to Maris Grove in 2007.

Joe was a graduate of West Catholic High School for Boys, class of 1946 and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served during the Korean War.  He was last employed as an Office Manager at Roh Inc. for eight years before retiring in 1992 and previously had a 30 year career working for the Federal Government in the Department of Defense. He also worked for the US Marine Corp & the US Navy. He was a Nike Anti-Missile Technician for the US Air Force in the Philadelphia area.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #764 in Briarcliffe. For over 40 years he was involved in the Briarcliffe Athletic Association in Darby Township, serving in many athletic & administrative positions. He was also honored to have his name added to their Fieldhouse Building.

While residing at Maris Grove, Joe was known as "Mr. Bingo".  He was active in the Fellowship Choir participating in many concerts & shows.  He was also a member of the Player's Club and he was a shepherd every year in the live Nativity Cantata.
He was predeceased by his wife Rosalie R. LaViola Blake, his son Joseph M. Blake, Jr., his granddaughter Dana Blake and his siblings William M. Blake, James Blake, John Blake and Mary McAllister.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years Mej Garrahan Bernard, his daughter-in-law Valerie S. Grugan and his children Steven Bernard, Jeffrey Bernard and Beth Ann Reeder, he is also survived by four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass 11 AM, Wednesday November 13, 2024 at St. Thomas the Apostle R.C. Church, 430 Valleybrook Rd, Glen Mills where relatives and friends may call 9:45 to 10:45 AM.  Burial private.
