John Karl Thomas, 91, of Glen Mills died on February 11, 2024 at his home. Born in Dallas, PA, the son of the late William J. and Marion E. Beaumont Thomas, he lived in Middletown Township before moving to Glen Mills in 2016.
Karl was a graduate of Swarthmore High School, class of 1950 and attended Pennsylvania Military College before entering the United States Air Force. After his service he went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Widener University. Karl was a Financial Consultant and owned and operated J. Karl Thomas Partnership with his daughter for 40 years, retiring in 2019. Karl was a member of Resurrection Episcopal Church, formerly Calvary Episcopal Church, where he served on the vestry, was Rector's Warden and was also the superintendent of Calvary Cemetery. He was President of the Glen Riddle Rotary as well as President and Board Member of CADES and was also a member of Killin-Miles American Legion Post 87 in Aston. Karl was the Auditor for Middletown Township and was on the board of the Middletown Historical Society. He also enjoyed traveling, golfing, collecting toys and was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan, but most important was time spent with his loving family.
He was the husband of 69 years to Bridget G. Traynor Thomas, father of John Karl Thomas, Jr. (Jean), Margaret Thomas Quaile (Glenn) and S. Craig Thomas (Rebecca), brother of the late William J. Thomas, Jr. and David A. Thomas, he is also survived by seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Burial Rite and Eucharist 11 AM Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Resurrection Episcopal Church, 2131 Mount Rd, Aston where relatives and friends may call after 10 AM. Burial in the adjoining Calvary Cemetery.
