John Donald Roberts, 91, of Glen Mills died December 18, 2019 at Rose Court at Maris Grove. Born in Staten Island, NY, he was the son of the late John William and Ruth Blaikie Roberts and resided in Wallingford before moving to his late residence last year.
Don graduated in 1946 from Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati, OH and received a B.S in chemical engineering from Bucknell University in 1950. Upon graduation from Bucknell he served in the U.S. Army at Douglas Proving Ground in Utah. He was employed by Glaxo Smith Kline where he designed and built chemical and pharmaceutical plants all over the world including China and India before retiring in 1989. In his early career he worked for the Continental Oil Company. He was a member of the Industrial Club and the AMA. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church where he was on the Vestry and served as the Rectors Warden. He enjoyed traveling and has been to all seven continents. He was an active investor in the stock markets, an outdoorsman an avid reader and enjoyed model trains. Most importantly he enjoyed his family.
He was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth A.B. Roberts.
Don was the loving husband of Anne Wilson Roberts, his wife of 68 years; father of John D. Roberts, Jr. (Leslie) of Barrington, IL and their children, John W. Roberts of San Francisco, CA and Jennifer C. Roberts of Denver, CO; David W. Roberts of Marcy, NY and his children, Kathryn Roberts of Washington, DC and Julie Roberts of Marcy, NY; and Daniel P. Roberts and his children, Anna Roberts and Grace Roberts, all of Sandy Springs, MD; also, survived by his stepmother, Mae Roberts of Winnetka, IL.
