John J. "Jack" Metzler 92 of Folsom died November 18, 2013 at Crozer-Keystone Hospice at Taylor.
Born in Chester, he was son of the late John W. and Annamay Morris Metzler and lived in Chester until moving to Folsom 68 years ago.
Jack was a Pipefitter at BP Oil Refinery (formerly Sinclair) for 35 years, retiring in 1986.
He was a graduate of Chester High School, class of 1940 and was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving on the USS Hopson DD464 during WWII.
Jack was a member of Chester Lodge #236, F.&.A.M., the Delaware Consistory, also a Lifetime member of Franklin Fire Company #1 in Chester and the State and Delaware County Fireman's Associations.
Survivors: his wife of 68 years, Emma I. Sumner Metzler; children James B. Metzler and Jacklyn L. Metzler (Phillip L. Doering); brother William Metzler (Virginia); his surrogate granddaughter Laurie Feldman and surrogate great grandson Zachary Feldman.
Visitation Saturday, November 23, 2013 8:30 to 9:15AM with a Masonic Service at 9:15AM at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park.
Funeral Service 10:00AM at the Ridley Park Presbyterian Church, 300 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park, PA 19078. Burial Edgewood Memorial Park.
