IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John "Jack"
M. Vivanco, Jr.
December 11, 2023
John "Jack" M. Vivanco, Jr., 82, of Folsom died on December 11, 2023 at his home. Born in Philadelphia, the son of the late John and Violet Jones Vivanco, he lived in Southwest Philadelphia before moving to Delaware County where he resided until his death.
Jack was a graduate of John Bartram High School, class of 1959 and attended Philadelphia College of Art. He was a proud veteran of the US Marine Corps, having served during the Vietnam War. Jack had been employed as a Security Guard at Penncrest High School in the Rose Tree-Media School District for over 20 years before his retirement, he had also previously worked for 20 years at Towers Perrin. He was a member of Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church where he volunteered in many different areas throughout the years. He was an active in the CYO, a lectern for Sunday Masses, and helped out with whatever his wife signed him up for with no questions asked. Jack also spent time volunteering at St. Edmond's Home for Children and Gateway Community Church. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and loved time in Wildwood and at his happy place at Driftwood Campgrounds, but most important was being with his family.
Jack was a quiet man who loved life and very rarely complained. He was extremely easy going and went along with whatever his wife and daughters got him involved in. He was one of the kindest, most levelheaded people you would ever meet. He was known as a "gentle giant" and "a true gentleman".
He was the husband of the late Joan Marie Lyons Vivanco who died on December 23, 2014, after 46 years of marriage, father of Joan Marie Baker (Michael) and Julia Vivanco, grandfather of Jacqueline Hertlein (Michael), Julie Clark, Danielle Baker, Tori Baker and Jackson Olivera, great-grandfather of Brynlee and Marley Hertlein, and was brother of Rita Marra (Richard) and the late Donald Vivanco (Jackie). He was also survived by his numerous nieces and nephews.
