Obituary

John C. Lackey, affectionately known as "Pop" & "JCL", passed away with family at his side at Taylor Hospice on August 23, 2019. John was born on February 28, 1949 in Philadelphia to the late Charles and Cecilia Lackey. John was predeceased by his loving sister, Cecilia Reilly, with whom he had a warm and wonderful relationship.

John was a graduate of the 1967 class of West Philadelphia Catholic High School and spent over 35 years working for the Upper Darby School District. John proudly served his fellow workers through his membership in the Transport Worker's Union (TWU), Local 289. He held the positions of Treasurer and President, and his efforts to help his fellow workers are fondly recalled by many to this day. John also was a legendary bartender in the Ridley area, filling glasses and hearts for many years at The Alpine Inn, The Milmont Inn, and Mikey's Place.

John was an unabashed fan of film and television and a true Disney devotee. He particularly enjoyed The Godfather and The Soprano's. He frequently vacationed in DisneyWorld, creating beautiful memories for many years. In addition, John's annual Christmas train display awed many with its intricate detail and personalized touches.

John is survived by his loving wife, Patricia, son John (Lynn), daughter Michelle (Michael), brother Charles (Kateryna), as well as several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, whom he selflessly and lovingly doted upon: Jake, Eden, Isabella, Chaz, Ryan, Talia, and Jack. John's relationship with all of his Grandchildren was extremely special and his love for them epitomized every aspect, nuance, detail and definition of a loving Grandfather.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Madeline Church, 110 Park Street, Ridley Park, PA, on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation hours will be prior to Mass from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
