John Richard "Keith" Hudson, 80, of Villanova died May 8, 2016 at Bellevue Hospital in New York. Born in England, he was the son of the late John and Nora Parkinson Hudson. Keith resided in Dover, DE before moving to his late residence 14 years ago.
Keith was educated at Oxford and Lincoln Theological College, and ordained in the Church of England in 1962. His assignments in England included a curacy, a college chaplaincy and a spell as Staff Officer at the Board of Education. Keith spent six years teaching at colleges in Australia and additional teaching back in England before moving to the United States in 1982. He received a Ph.D in English in the US and was an Assistant Professor of English at LSU and Professor of English and Drama at Wesley College in Dover, DE. Keith was also the Chaplain of Delaware Hospice for ten years. He then became Administrator of a company providing alternative education for needy children. Recently, Keith's efforts went to developing, building and supporting communities in Chester at Chester Eastside, St. Mary's Episcopal Church as well as St. Paul's Episcopal Church, where he was Priest in Charge. Throughout his career, Keith either served as an associate at a large church or as a rector of a small one while teaching throughout his life, both in the classroom and in the community.
Keith is survived by his adoring wife of 14 years, Sandra Hudson; his three sons, Nicholas (Lesley Cunnea), Timothy (Vikkii) and Philip (Verena) Hudson, who all reside in England; his daughter, Samantha Hudson, who lives in Philadelphia; his sister, Shelagh Phillips, who lives in Sherburne, England; and his favorite granddaughter, Ella, who also resides in England; Sandra's children, Tobias W. Welo (Kristin) and Kirsten McGuire (Thomas); also survived by Sandra's grandchildren, Grayson Welo, Tobias J. Welo, Mia McGuire and Molly McGuire.
