John H. Kefalas, 89 of Wallingford died December 2, 2010 at the The Wallingford Nursing Home.
Born in Lebanon, PA to immigrant parents from Mytilimi, Greece, he lived in Marcus Hook before moving to Wallingford forty two years ago.
Mr. Kefalas was a former restaurateur and owner and operator of Kefalas Catering.
A U.S. Army Air Corps World War II veteran, he served in the South Pacific with the 38th Bomb Squadron and was a member of the VFW, Eleftheria Post #6633 in Havertown.
He was also a member of the St. George Greek Orthodox Church, where he was Past President of the Parish Council and also AHEPA.
Mr. Kefalas enjoyed traveling, cooking, painting, sculpting, theater, singing with the Suburban Opera Co., the Rose Valley Chorus, in church choirs, Greek dancing and the warmth of the Florida sun in Delray Beach, FL. Most important to him was his family.
He was son of the late Harry J. and Margaret Dukas Kefalas, father of the late Margaret Kefalas Dougherty (William) who died December 4, 2001 and brother of the late Sophie Gust, Irene Moustakas, Theresa Nicoladas, Carrie, Jimmy, Charlie, Louis and George Kefalas.
Mr. Kefalas is survived by his wife, Fifi Pahides Kefalas whom he married on November 11, 1945, his children: Deborah Kefalas Kollias of Media, Theodora Kefalas Psitos (Demetrois) of Wallingford ,and Harry John Kefalas (Vasiliki) of Media, grandchildren; Colin, Kara, Elena, Tom, Kristina, Michael and great-grandchildren Caroline, Madeline and Henry.
Funeral Service 11:00AM Tuesday , December, 7, 2010 at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 30 E. Forge Rd., Media, PA 19063 (Middletown Twp.) where friends may call after 10:00AM. Burial Lawn Croft Cemetery.
