John T. Jennings, Jr., "Truby", 67 of Prospect Park died on June 13, 2024 peacefully at his home after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.  Born in Chester, the son of the late John T. and Mary Patricia Hickey Jennings, he lived in Garden City before moving to Prospect Park in 1961.
John was a graduate of Interboro High School, class of 1975 and was employed by XLE Independence Steel and Aungst Iron.  He dedicated most of his life to kart racing. His father had established DT Racing in the late 1960's, building engines for other karters and selling parts around the local sprint and dirt tracks.  John and his father also became involved with the Woodbridge Kart Club, regularly racing at Summit Point Raceway in West Virgina, followed by many years of traveling the US to drive on tracks such as Charlotte Motor Speedway, Daytona International Speedway, Watkins Glen and Road America, to name a few.  John's success as a driver was only surpassed by his ability to build engines and guide new and old racers with his knowledge and desire to help.  He built lifelong friendships and respect with his fellow karters all over the country.  John was also a member of the World Karting Association. John loved taking off on his motorhome to camp with wife, son and his dogs, he will be remembered as a selfless guy who was always willing to help anyone in need.
He was the loving husband of 37 years to Susan E. Salter Jennings, father of Dylan T. Jennings, brother of Leanne Jennings and uncle of Thomas and Aaron Jennings.
