John E. "Jack" Layer, Jr., 80 of Folcroft died January 31, 2011 at Summerville at Vorhees.

Born in Philadelphia, he lived in Southwest Philadelphia before moving to Folcroft fifty years ago.

Mr. Layer was a steamfitter for Steamfitters Local #420 for 39 years, retiring in 1992.

He was a graduate of John Bartrum High School, Class of 1948, a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War and a member of Fernwood Lodge #543, F.& A.M. He loved casinos, playing poker, Oceanview Resort in Oceanview, NJ and Sea Isle Beach.

Mr. Layer loved being with people, but most important to him was his family.

He was husband of the late Irene T. Bevan Layer, his wife of fifty one years, who died July 6, 2011, son of the late John E. and Marie Ainis Layer and brother of the late Dolores Connor.

Survivors; children- William Hadfield (Sue) of South Park, PA, John E. Layer, III (Kathy) of Berlin, NJ and Renie Bald of Wilmington, DE.,
grandchildren, Adrienne, Jacqueline, Shawn, Allison and Trisha and great-grandson Aiden.

Funeral Service; Friday 10:00AM at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park where friends may call after 9:00AM. Burial Glenwood Memorial Gardens.
