John J. Gaffney, III, 73
Longtime Computer Science Educator
John J. Gaffney, III, 73 of Eddystone died November 29, 2011 at Penn Hospice at Rittenhouse. Born in Philadelphia and reared in Newtown Square, Mr. Gaffney lived in Exton prior to moving to his late residence 31 years ago.
John was a graduate of West Catholic High School for Boys, he received a B.S. Degree in Economics from Temple University and a Masters Degree from Widener University. He was self-employed for the past 20 years and was previously a Vocational Teacher in Computer Science for the Delaware County School District. John was an avid fisherman and reader.
He was son of the late John J., Jr. and Bernadette Phalen Gaffney.
Survivors: his wife of 31 years, Diane M. Petrovitch Gaffney, father of Dorothea Levine (Richard), Deborah Miller (Edward), Aaron Embert (Kim), Sharon Hoffman, Amy Sproule (William) and Jason Petrovitch (Jennifer), brother of James Gaffney (Melinda), also survived by 15 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and his former wife Linda King Gaffney.
Funeral Mass: 10 AM Tuesday at The Church of St. Madeline, Penn St. and Morton Ave., Ridley Park
