John J. Connor, Sr., 80, of Ridley Park died on September 21, 2021 at Taylor Hospital. Born in Philadelphia, the son of the late James E. and Anna M. Dougherty Connor, he lived in Southwest Philadelphia before moving to Ridley Park.
John was a veteran of the United States Army who served during the Vietnam War era. He was employed as a Machinist at General Electric for over 30 years, before retiring in 1997. John also worked at The Evening Bulletin. John was a member of Local #119 of the IUE and a member of St. Madeline Parish in Ridley Park. He was an avid Phillies fan. John loved trivia, watching Jeopardy, camping and playing crossword puzzles. He loved classic movies, Elvis music, and playing pinochle.
John was husband of 59 years to Mildred J. Casto Connor, father of Cynthia J. Pierzynski (Stephen), John J. Connor, Jr. (Marjorie), Donna J. Martin (George), Christopher J. Connor (Dawn) and Timothy Connor. He was the grandfather to Ashley Connor; John J., III, Kristy Connor, and Carolyn Connor; and Emily Oakes. He was also a great-grandfather to Zoey and John Thomas McGurk and was one of five siblings: Charles, James, Edward and Maryanne.
Funeral Mass is at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 25, 2021 at The Church of St. Madeline, 400 Morton Ave, Ridley Park. Preceding the Mass will be visitation between 9:45 to 10:45 AM. Burial Private.
