John A. "Jack" Tracy, Jr., 86, of Swarthmore died November 11, 2013 at Sterling Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Media, PA, son of the late John A. and Ann Dougherty Tracy, Jack lived in Middletown Township prior to moving to his late residence in 1995.
Jack attended Nativity B.V.M. School and was a graduate of Media High School, class of 1945. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during World War II, receiving the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. Jack was very patriotic and fittingly died on Veteran's Day. After being discharged from the Army in 1947, Jack went to work with a Media-based photographer, Roger Russell, who specialized in portraits. In 1948, Mr. Russell went into the retail business. Jack eventually became a partner and then the sole owner until the store's closing in 2002 after 54 years.
Jack was a member and daily communicant at Notre Dame de Lourdes R.C. Church and was previously a member of St. Francis de Sales R.C. Church and Nativity B.V.M. Church. He was a former member of the Media Rotary Club, the Men of Malvern, and the Delaware Valley Photo Dealers Association. He was a lifelong member of the Subway Alumni of Notre Dame. He was also a longtime supporter of the Media Youth Center and many other charities.
He was husband of the late Regina Weathers Tracy who died in 1972 and Anne Friel Tracy who died in 1996, brother of the late Anne Tracy Eves and Bernadine R. Tracy.
Survivors: his sister, Mary T. Colameco, also many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass: 10 AM Saturday at Notre Dame de Lourdes R.C. Church, Fairview Rd. and Michigan Ave., Swarthmore.
Visitation: 9 to 9:45 AM Saturday at the church.
