Joan A. Ralston Smith, 87, of Ridley Park died December 18, 2020 at Aventura at Prospect.  Born in Upland, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Helen Roberts News and resided in Chester and Prospect Park before moving to her late residence 58 years ago.

Joan was a graduate of Nether Providence High School, class of 1951 and was employed as a Compositor for Boeing Company before retiring in 2000.  She was a member of the Church of St. Madeline and loved animals, especially dogs.  Joan enjoyed the Jersey Shore, especially Long Beach Island and was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, but most important was her family.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 59 years, Raymond A. "Sonny" Smith, Jr., who died June 18, 2017; and her brother, Thomas News.

Joan was the devoted mother of Lauren J. Smith-Gorson and Kyle A. Smith (Nicolina); grandmother of Erica Nevin, Nicole Smith and Taylor Gorson; sister of Cindy Nourie and Judie Tyne; and great grandmother of Lina, Madden, Sage and Ainsley Nevin.
