Joan M. Smith (nee Macauley), 94 of Ridley Park died on May 10, 2025.  Born in Philadelphia, the daughter of the late James K. and Catherine McKay Macauley, she was raised in Collingdale and has been a resident of Ridley Park for the past 71 years.

Joan was a graduate of Collingdale High School, class of 1948 and was employed as an Administrative Assistant at Griffith Printing before her retirement in 1994.  She was a member of The Church of St. Madeline in Ridley Park and was an avid reader and enjoyed vacationing in Avalon, NJ. Joan was an enthusiastic Philadelphia sports fan and was a "gym rat" having belonged to The Ridley Sports Club and Planet Fitness.  More than anything, her family was the most important part of her life.

Joan was the loving wife of the late Francis D. Smith who died on October 14, 2004 after 51 years of marriage, mother of the late Stephen F. Smith and is survived by her children William F. Smith (Lois) and Suzan Smith, grandmother of William F. Smith, Jr., Ashleigh Boggs (Greg), Tyler F. Smith, Devon Catherine Wescott, Taylor Marie Wescott and Hillary Wolfer, great-grandmother of Delilah and was sister of James Macauley (Joyce) and the late Mary Ann Bell.

Funeral Mass 10 AM Saturday, May 17, 2025, at The Church of St. Madeline, 400 Morton Ave., Ridley Park where relatives and friends may call after 9 AM.  Burial Edgewood Memorial Park.
