Joan E. Carson Karlunas, 81, of Woodlyn died on September 7, 2018 at Crozer Chester Medical Center.
Born in Chester, Joan lived in Ridley Park before moving to her late residence in 1966.

She was employed as a Customer Associate for Carl R. Dillman Shoes in Wynnwood. Joan was a member of Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church and a graduate of Prospect Park High School, class of 1954 where she played hockey, softball and basketball, as well as being a cheerleader. Joan also played softball for the Delco Comets and hockey for the Panthers. She loved bowling, going to the casino and taught exercise classes, but most important to her was her family.

Joan was predeceased by her parents, Roger W. and Lena A. Barnett Carson; her sister, Vivian C. Ward and her husband, Fran; and her brother, Roger W. Carson, Jr.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Walter W. Karlunas; her sons, Walter J. Karlunas and Ted R. Karlunas (Maria); her sister-in-law, Jane Carson; her step granddaughter, Nicole; and one step great granddaughter.

Funeral Liturgy: 11:00AM Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave. Ridley Park, PA 19078, where friends may call from 9:30 to 11:00AM.
