Jennie Sheppard Purington, 103, longtime resident of Brookhaven died December21, 2020 at Genesis Waldorf Center.  Born and raised in Chester, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Jennie Martin Sheppard.

Jennie was a lifetime and oldest living member of St. Paul's P.E. Church, where she was the Sacristan for many years and Secretary of the Women's Auxiliary for two terms.  She was a member of the Altar Guild since 1950, the Saints and Servers of St. Paul's and the Episcopalians United.  Jennie was a Choir Mother for the men and boys' choirs of St. Paul's for four years and was a Sunday School Teacher for 6 ^th grade boys for three years.  She was a Den Mother for Cub Scout Pack #225 and Committee Secretary for three years.  Jennie was the Parent's Committee Secretary of Boy Scout Troop #1 for three years.  She was Block Captain for United Fund for two terms and spent two years on the blood donors and hospitality drives for the Red Cross.  Jennie was a volunteer at Riddle Memorial Hospital since 1963 and was recognized for 2500 hours of service many years ago.

She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence E. Purington, who died in 1975.

Jennie is survived by her son, Richard A. Moore (Dorothy); her grandchildren, Kimberly, Karen and Michelle; and five great grandchildren.
