Jeannette "Jo" Rubillo, 68 – Born July 8, 1955, to James W. Leake & Mildred Leake, was born and raised in Delaware County, PA. She grew up on Valley Rd. & Barren Rd. (where she once ran her Daddy's truck through the chicken coop!). She has lived at the corner of Mount & Convent Roads in Aston since 1977.
Best known to friends and family as Jo, (her Dad christened her with that nickname). She was known as "Jo", "Aunt Jo" (related or not) or "Honey Jo" and rarely ever Jeannette (except to a select few). Jo is survived by her husband Charlie Rubillo, her oldest son Michael DiSalvo, her daughter Mary Rubillo, her grandchildren, Clayton, Jamison, Teagan, Charlynn and Christopher, her sister Barbara "Bobbi" Snow and brother John "Jack" Leake, as well as many other nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Jo was preceded in death by her son Matthew DiSalvo, and her brothers James (Buddy) Leake and David Leake.
Jo was known for her intelligence, razor-sharp quick wit, and her general humor as well as her orneriness. Despite her size, she was a spitfire who never gave up, nor gave in, despite the odds or obstacles. She loved her family and friends and was well known for her big heart. She was always there as a shoulder to cry on or to lend a helping hand to a friend in need, and often to complete strangers. She organized many fundraisers for people who had medical troubles and other hardships. Jo was particularly noted for making "a few" raffle baskets whenever there was a fundraising event. Jo became heavily involved with The Overdose Awareness and Memorial Walk and has served on the Board of Directors of the Bridge to Recovery Foundation.
Jo had great love and affinity for the beach, especially her home away from home, Chincoteague Island and Greenbackville, VA. She taught her children, as well as her grandchildren, how to collect seashells, dig for clams, collect mussels and especially how to crab! One of her other pleasures was her yard. She never called it working in the yard, it was "playing in the dirt", as she enjoyed it so much. She always had flowers blooming in the yard and on the deck, at her home in Aston, as well as in Greenbackville. It has often looked like the inside of Martha Stewart or Beach Living magazines, especially during the holiday seasons. Jo also enjoyed preparing large, extensive holiday dinners for family and friends, teaching her children along the way.
