Obituary

Jeanne Marie Stranix, 60, a longtime resident of Ridley Park passed Wednesday, July 1 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, following a courageous battle with MDS.

Jeanne, the fifth of seven children born to Frances and Richard Stranix, was a graduate of Ridley High School.  She was employed by the Reliance Insurance Company as an Underwriting Assistant until 1996.  It was then that she settled into her most natural role as Care Giver.  She nannied several nieces and nephews, as well as aided several family members and a neighbor.  She was selfless and generous with her time and talent.  Jeanne will forever be remembered for her ever- present smile and love of singing.  Never did a sentance pass without her turning a word into a song.  She was always the center of attention at the annual Stranix Family Christmas party, playing the piano and leading the children in carol singing, even though they were all "Gettin' Nuttin" for Christmas".  She had a litany of lullabyes that all of the kids remember, because she loved them all "A Bushel and a Peck". If not singing, she was quoting movies.  The line " I love you more than my luggage" from Steel Magnolias will forever echo in our ears.  She always looked forward to the yearly extended family vacation to Avalon, ready to open a cold Coor's Light and relax by the bay.

Jeanne was a life-long memeber of St. Madeline Parish serving as Godmother and Sponsor to many of her nieces and nephews.  She was devout in her Catholic faith and prayed to the Blessed Mother daily.

She is predeceased by her father Richard G. Stranix, sister, Susan Schembs and brother, Jimmy Stranix.

Surviving her are mother, Frances Crossley Stranix, brothers, Rich (Debb), Tom (Venee), and Joe (Susan) and sister Margi (Jerry) Ross, 17 nieces and nephews and 28 great nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, July 9, at the Church of St. Madeline, 400 Morton Ave, Ridley Park, PA.  Visitation from 9:45- 10:45, followed by mass at 11:00, and burial at SS Peter and Paul Cemetary.  Due to the global pandemic, please be conscious of healthy practices and wearing masks.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Madeline Parish or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
